Quick Refresher on URI Protocols

We currently have five dogs in the isolation building showing signs of upper respiratory infection (URI). There is no need for alarm, but it is a good time to revisit our protocols and make sure we are all doing our part to keep everyone healthy.

If you notice any dogs showing symptoms such as nasal discharge, green eye discharge, excessive coughing, or lethargy, please alert the programs team right away. Early awareness helps us respond quickly and prevent further spread.

When using toys with dogs, please be mindful of cleanliness. If a toy has been used, place it in the dirty laundry afterward whenever possible. If the toy is washable, you can also rinse it in the sink before setting it aside. Keeping shared items clean is an important step in reducing the risk of illness.

One of the most effective ways to help prevent or minimize the spread of URI is simply to continue walking dogs. Regular movement and time out of kennels make a big difference in their overall health and stress levels. If you have been trained to walk dogs, your help is especially important right now.

Thank you for your continued support and care for our dogs.
